The Calm Down Nigeria Initiative (CDNI) lead by Amb. Frank Albert Jnr Okolie has called on the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs and the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to urgently intervene in the ongoing controversy surrounding the Igbo kingship saga in Ghana before it escalates into a national and tribal issue.

The organization expressed concern over the rising tensions and potential diplomatic implications if the matter is not handled with maturity, wisdom, and cultural sensitivity. It urged the Nigerian government to engage with Ghanaian authorities through appropriate diplomatic channels to ensure peaceful resolution.

In addition, Calm Down Nigeria called on the leadership of the Igbo Traditional Institutions to immediately develop and enforce clear policies guiding the installation and conduct of Eze Igbo (Igbo kings) in diaspora communities, especially outside the core Igbo states.

The Initiative emphasized that while cultural leadership remains essential in preserving cultural identity abroad, there must be checks and standards to prevent conflicts, duplication of authority, or actions that could damage Nigeria’s unity or international image.
