The Calm Down Nigeria Initiative has called on President Donald Trump to focus more on strengthening the sovereignty, unity, and greatness of the United States rather than making statements or taking actions that appear to threaten or undermine Nigeria — Africa’s most powerful Black nation.

‘Nigeria, as a sovereign and independent country, deserves respect and fair engagement in international relations. Constructive dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation among nations remain the surest paths to achieving global peace and progress.’

We therefore urge President Trump to channel his energy and influence toward addressing domestic challenges in the United States while fostering partnerships built on equality and mutual respect with African nations.

If President Trump sees headlines suggesting that Christians are being attacked or killed in Nigeria, we urge him to invite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States for discussions on how both nations — two great global players — can collaborate to eliminate terrorism and violent extremism in Africa and the wider world.
