2027: Ebonyi Turns APC Stronghold, Arodiogbu Declares Total Support for Tinubu

The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South East, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has declared that Ebonyi State is firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, following the APC’s reported sweep of all Local Government Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in the state.

Dr. Arodiogbu, while congratulating the newly elected council chairmen and councillors, described the outcome of the local government election as a strong demonstration of the confidence of Ebonyi voters in the APC and the leadership of President Tinubu.

“This landslide victory shows that Ebonyi is 100 percent for Tinubu. Our people have spoken loudly and clearly. They have rejected opposition politics and embraced the progressive agenda of the APC under the leadership of Mr. President,” he said.

Among the notable winners is Osborn Umahi, son of the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, who was declared Chairman-elect of Ohaozara Local Government Area.

Other reported chairmen-elect include Peace Agwu (Ishielu), Paul Ituma (Ohaukwu), Friday Nwuhuo (Ezza North), Chinedu Mkpuma (Ezza South), Chidi Nwode (Ikwo), Timothy Nwachi (Afikpo North), Ikechukwu Ogbofia (Onicha), Michael Anyim (Ivo), Simeon Onuoha (Edda), Helen Aduga (Izzi), Chidiebere Alo (Abakaliki), and Chibueze Odigwe (Ebonyi Local Government Area).

According to Arodiogbu, the APC’s performance at the grassroots level reflects growing acceptance of what he described as the development-oriented policies of the federal and state governments, Presstv News Nigeria can report.

He specifically cited infrastructure development, agricultural support and improved security as areas in which government policies were, in his assessment, contributing to greater public confidence in the APC.

The APC South-East leader, however, cautioned the newly elected officials against allowing the electoral victory to become an excuse for complacency.

He urged them to immediately settle down to work, prioritise the welfare of residents, promote accountability and ensure that the people receive tangible democratic dividends from their mandates.

“This is not the time for celebration alone. It is a call to service. The people of Ebonyi have given us their mandate; we must not disappoint them,” he added.

Arodiogbu also called on the new council officials and party members across the state to remain committed to the APC and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, as political activities and preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.

The Chairman of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), Patrick Enyi, described the election as peaceful, free and fair. He commended voters, security agencies and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring what he described as a smooth electoral process.

The Ebonyi State APC Chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, also welcomed the outcome, describing it as further evidence of the party’s political strength in the state and expressing confidence that the momentum would extend to the 2027 general elections.

The result is expected to further strengthen the APC’s grassroots political structure in Ebonyi as the party begins preparations for the 2027 presidential and other elections.
