KOGI KIDNAP: ARODIOGBU COMMENDS SECURITY FORCES AS 15 NYSC MEMBERS REGAIN FREEDOM
Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu
The National Vice Chairman (South East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, MBBS, PhD, has expressed profound relief and gratitude following the successful rescue of kidnapped members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kogi State.
Prof. Arodiogbu rejoiced with the families of the rescued Corps members, the NYSC Directorate, and Nigerians across the country, describing the development as a significant victory for the nation’s security forces and a welcome demonstration of the government’s commitment to protecting the lives and wellbeing of Nigerian youths.
Presstv News Nigeria learns that the Corps members were reportedly rescued from the Egume forest area of Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, following coordinated and intelligence-driven security operations.
Prof. Arodiogbu commended the Nigeria Police Force, Armed Forces of Nigeria, Department of State Services (DSS) and other security personnel who participated in the operation, praising their professionalism, courage, resilience and determination to secure the safe return of the victims.
He said the successful rescue further demonstrates that Nigeria’s security agencies are capable of responding effectively to emerging security threats when intelligence, coordination and operational resources are brought together.
“The successful rescue of these young Nigerians is a moment of relief for their families and a source of encouragement to the entire nation. We commend the security agencies for their courage, professionalism and intelligence-led approach in securing their freedom.”
Prof. Arodiogbu stressed that the safety of NYSC members must remain a national priority, noting that Corps members are young Nigerians who have voluntarily accepted the responsibility of serving their country and promoting national unity.
“Our Corps members represent the hope, energy and future of Nigeria. Any attack on them is an attack on the nation itself. Their safety must therefore remain non-negotiable.”
He called on the security agencies to sustain their operations and intelligence-gathering efforts across vulnerable areas to ensure that other kidnapped Nigerians are rescued and that those responsible for such criminal acts are identified, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The APC National Vice Chairman also urged communities to strengthen cooperation with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help prevent kidnappings and other violent crimes.
“As a political party committed to national security, development and the welfare of Nigerians, the All Progressives Congress will continue to support every legitimate effort aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and protecting citizens,” he added.
Prof. Arodiogbu prayed for the full physical and psychological recovery of the rescued Corps members and commended all Nigerians who supported their families during the difficult period.
He further expressed appreciation to the men and women of Nigeria’s security services who continue to risk their lives in the service of the nation.
