‘Join President Tinubu, Our Nehemiah, to Rebuild Nigeria’s Walls’ – Gloria Akobundu Urges Christians, Church Leaders
The Secretary Faith Based Mobilisation (Christians) All Progressive Congress Presidential Campaign Council and former National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer of the African Union Development Agency Partnership for Africa Development (AUDA- NEPAD), Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu Phd, fsi, has called on Nigerian Christians and church leaders across the country to join hands with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as “our own Nehemiah” divinely positioned to rebuild the walls of Nigeria, “our own Jerusalem.”
Akobundu made the call after the inauguration of the Apc Presidential Campaign Council by President Tinubu at State House Abuj, Presstv News Nigeria can report.
Drawing from Nehemiah 2:17, she reminded the gathering that when Jerusalem lay in ruins, it was Nehemiah who rallied the priests, the rulers and the ordinary people with the words: “Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.”
“Nigeria is our own Jerusalem. The walls were broken, our economy, our unity, our dignity among nations. But God has raised a Nehemiah in our time in the person of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” she declared.
“Nehemiah could not rebuild the walls alone; he needed every family, every tradesman, every gatekeeper to labour with a tool in one hand. That is the call I am making today to Nigerian Christians: take your place in this rebuilding.”
The APC chieftain said the Renewed Hope Agenda has laid new foundations for the nation, citing ongoing infrastructure revolution, economic reforms, support for local production, the student loan scheme, the new national minimum wage, and renewed investor confidence in the economy. She maintained that no serious pilgrim abandons a wall halfway through construction.
“Scripture says the people had a mind to work. If the church withdraws, who will stand in the gap?” she asked.
Quoting 1 Timothy 2:1–2 and 2 Chronicles 7:14, Akobundu urged church leaders to intensify intercession for the President, his team and all in authority, stressing that prayer and patriotic participation are not opposites but partners.
She further charged Christian leaders to encourage their members to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote peacefully in the 2027 general elections, warning against politicians who, according to her, “weaponise religion” only when election season approaches.
“Do not follow the noise of those who divide us along faith lines for their own bread and butter. Judge by fruits. President Tinubu has shown respect for the Christian faith, for our brethren in government, and for freedom of worship. The Church must stand with builders, not with breakers,” she said.
Akobundu, a grassroots mobiliser and staunch member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reiterated her commitment to continuing advocacy across the South-East and the entire country, insisting that with the cooperation of all Nigerians, Christians, Muslims and traditional worshippers alike, the walls of the nation will stand again.
“With Nehemiah, the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt in fifty-two days, and even their enemies perceived that the work was done by the God of heaven,” she concluded. “Nigeria shall be rebuilt, and the world shall see that the Lord has done it.”
