The National Vice Chairman (South-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and APC Presidential Campaign Council South-East Zonal Coordinator, Prof. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has described former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi as a hypocrite over his recent comments on the purchase of vehicles for public office holders.

Reacting to Obi’s claim that “I never heard in America that they bought vehicles for legislators, judges and politicians. You can’t just buy cars anyhow,” Arodiogbu said the statement reeks of selective amnesia and double standards, Presstv News Nigeria can report.

“Only people with amnesia will believe him,” Arodiogbu stated. “When Peter Obi was Governor of Anambra State, he was not only buying cars for politicians and traditional rulers; he also bought vehicles for judges. The records are there for anyone who cares to check.”

Arodiogbu noted that while Obi now postures as a frugal reformer who condemns vehicle purchases for legislators and public officials, his own administration freely distributed official vehicles to High Court judges, traditional rulers, commissioners, permanent secretaries, and other categories of public officers.

He recalled that Obi’s government procured and presented multiple sets of vehicles to the judiciary, including Honda Accords for judges, and also distributed jeeps and other vehicles to traditional rulers across the state. Former Secretary to the State Government under Obi, Oseloka Obaze, had publicly confirmed that the administration procured a large number of SUVs for traditional rulers.

“This is the same man who now lectures Nigerians about what is done in America and pretends he never engaged in the same practice,” Arodiogbu said. “He cancelled two bulletproof vehicles for himself and used the money to buy Peugeot 406 cars for his cabinet, yet turned around and bought vehicles for judges, traditional rulers and other political stakeholders. That is classic hypocrisy.”

Arodiogbu accused Obi of consistently applying one standard to himself and another to others, especially when it suits his political narrative. He said Nigerians should not be deceived by Obi’s current rhetoric, which seeks to erase the documented actions of his own government.

“Leadership requires consistency and honesty,” Arodiogbu added. “You cannot condemn today what you freely practised yesterday and expect to be taken seriously. Peter Obi’s record in Anambra speaks louder than his present sermons.”

Arodiogbu reassured that South East Geo political Zone is committed to re-electing President Tinubu and would not be swayed by the lies, deception and rhetorics of Mr. Peter Obi.
