Emmanuel Madubuezi Sues Nigerian Army, Demands For 1bn Compensation
A student, Emmanuel Madubuezi from PortHarcourt Polytechnic was hit by a stray bullet while going to school on September 14, 2017.
Madubuezi, was shot in hand and left leg. The bullet pierced through his left leg and hit another elderly woman that sat next to him. He was initially rejected in different hospitals until his leg was amputated on September 25,2017 at Holy Trinity Hospital.
Meanwhile, the victim has requested for the sum of 1bn from Nigerian army through his lawyer, Mr. Tope Akinyode.
Mr. Akinyode said he will ask the Court to compel Nigerian Army to pay #1b compensation because Nigerian Army did not fuel the medical bill of the victim nor offer him compensation and never borther to assist him despite the severe pains and permanent disability done to him.
Nigerian Army in their response admitted the evil done to the man by its operatives and tagged the conduct as unprofessional.
The Army authorities insist that Nigerian Army could not bear the damage done because their men acted on their own.
According to the Punch, the victim was in a commercial Tricycle going to school when he was hit by stray bullet.
