The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu has been applauded for his duggedness in combating crime, arbitrary use of power, position as well as protecting life and properties in Lagos State. The CP was also credited for his disciplinary measures against errying police officers in Lagos State, irrespective of their rank and designation.
The Executive Chairmen of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hammed Salawu gave the accolade to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu while giving his response to the recent incident which arose from the harassment and illegal detention of Comrade Kabir Muhammed and Tunde Abass last weekend.
According to Hon. Abdul Hammed Salawu, he made a swift response to the call of angry residents within his community by placing a call to the then Divisional Police Officer of the Onipanu Police Station, CSP Francis Ani, who falls under his Local Government Area to prevent the issue from escalating, but the DPO refused to bend. “Had it been he honoured my plea, he won’t be in this mess”, the council Chairman retraited.
The Council Chairman said he was astonished and delighted to read from the newspapers, on the disciplinary measures taken by the Lagos State Police Command against the officers involved in the unlawful arrest. He noted that the action of CP Hakeem Odumosu will make Police Officers in the state dutiful and polite with their jobs and also improve on their human relationship while combating crime.
However, Hon. Abdul Hammed Salawu said he is not in support of Nigerians who are not law abiding as Officers of Security Agencies are employed to maintain law and order as well as protecting life and properties. He said citizens should always respect the officers responsibly and politely.
The Council Boss pointed out that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police is a strong factor in the upholding of the letter ‘S’ in the (Security & Governance) in the Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s Project T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda.
