2023: Asiwaju Tinubu Will Consolidate President Buhari’s Indelible Achievements, Says Rotimi Makinde ~ PressTv

Former House Deputy Chairman on Human Rights in the 7th Assembly, Hon Rotimi Makinde has again intensified his plea to make the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to join the 2023 presidential race.

Makinde who represented Ife Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives between 2011 to 2015, while hosting some media executives and online publishers in Lagos said the legacies, principles, sacrifices and ideologies of Asiwaju Tinubu clearly showcased him as a national leader, who was a rallying point for progressives in the country.

It would be recalled that Makinde had earlier hosted some press men few days ago but still making similar call on Saturday to drive home his clarion call for Asiwaju to contest in 2023, a man he believes is the best and most qualified for the top job in the country.

The outspoken and very fearless politician is calling on the two-time Governor of Lagos state to use his experience in fostering unity, peace and progress in the country and contest for the position of president in the 2023 general election.

“For over two decades our leader and mentor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been a vanguard of true federalism, pillar of hope and national integration even as he pays attention to the development of our dear nation without bias or prejudice, that is the kind of leader we desire and deserve at a time like this.

“With no shred of doubt Asiwaju is a trailblazer, pacesetter, a mentor, nation builder, a unifier and de-tribalised politician who wants the best for Nigeria,” he said.

Hon Makinde who has history of showing committment to any course he believes added that if Asiwaju Tinubu joins the presidential race it will enable him [Asiwaju] to consolidate what President Muhammadu Buhari has done and is still doing in Nigeria.

“Asiwaju possess undeniable passion for Nigeria. He is a consummate democrat and a progressive to a core and a solution privider to where and when it is needed and that is rare in our body politic.

“He is a political phenomenon with class and finesse, an astute administrator and successful businessman, who has within his political sojourn, become the political colossal in Nigeria.

“It is the quest of all of us in South-West Agenda for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (SWAGA 2023) not just me to see a country that can make progress and flourish in all endeavors; and that is why we are calling on an outstanding personality in person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to vie for the position of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.

According to Makinde during his chat with the seasoned journalists on Saturday, he described Asiwaju Tinubu as a detribalised leader who is second to none, judging from the composition of his government as Lagos State governor, which encompassed all tribes.

“If you critically take stock of Nigeria’s past and present leaders and their contributions to human development, you would see that Tinubu believes that the true essence of leadership is planting life-time seeds.

“He is the only leader alive today that has demonstrated such.

“Look at those he has empowered politically and entrepreneurially across the country, you would not but concede to the fact that his definition of leadership is empowerment.

“So, the barometer to measure a true leader is from those he has built, and without mentioning names, the list is endless,” Makinde stated.

He explained that Tinubu’s believe in a democratic, peaceful and united Nigeria is unquestionable, taking cognisance of his immense contributions in actualising the annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential election.

“Without mincing words, Tinubu was frontal to achieving the democracy we are all enjoying today.

“Tinubu with other pro-democratic personalities and trade unionists especially Frank Kokori of NUPENG and other dogged patriots across the country who stood firm during the military junta to ensure that Nigeria returned to a democratic government even at the expense of their lives and careers.

“If you carefully consider all Tinubu has done for the country so far, you would understand that he is the kind of leader Nigerians presently want,” he said.

Makinde however used the media parley to appeal to all those in silent malice against Asiwaju to please close ranks and mend fences in the overall interest of the Yorubas and by extension Nigerians. In his views failure to do just that might allow the history of late Pa Obafemi Awolowo’s episode to repeat itself which according to his isn’t the best.
