Fraud Alert: Minister Of Budget And National Planning, Agba Threatens To Invite EFCC, ICPC To Probe University Of Port Harcourt Over N950m COVID-19 Funds

THE Minister for State and Budget Planning Mr. Clem Agba said that the Federal Government will probe the implementation of the COVID-19 pandemic funds extended to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) to ascertain what happened to the resources deployed in the period under review.Agba made the declaration to newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital as part of the government’s efforts to ensure that Nigerians who ought to benefit from the exercise are not shortchanged by those at the helm of affairs.“We have released N950m naira to build molecular laboratories in each of the 252 centres across the country for the testing and treatments of the COVID-19 pandemic patients along side other protective machines and equipments that should have been bought.The Minister who was conducted round the facilities supposedly built for the purpose of COVID-19 pandemic patients was disappointed that the money was not spent as ‘he could not see where the money was spent.“With what you’re showing me I’m disappointed. If it’s not part of it then don’t bring me here. There’s nothing showing any form of renovation with what you’re showing me.“How do you have a new building and bring old things to put inside?“First from whats I’m seeing, I will invite the Auditor-General of the Federation to examine what has been done here. If it needs bring in the ICPC or EFCC for proper investigation will we do so, because I’m seriously disappointed with what I’m seeing.“I don’t see any of our money being spent anywhere here because there’s no intervention here at all”, Agba thundered.
