Freiburg captain Günter on the mend after arm surgery

Freiburg captain Christian Günter said on Sunday he has undergone successful surgery on a lower arm fracture he sustained in a pre-season match the previous day.
“Thank you for the many messages and well-wishes. The OP went well and I am already on the road to recovery,” Günter said on Instagram next to a photo showing him in hospital with a bandage around the lower right arm.
The German international sustained the injury during the first half of a game against Swiss club Grasshoppers. Freiburg have not said how long he will be sidelined.
Freiburg start the season on August 13 with a German Cup game at lower league Oberachern. Their first Bundesliga game is on August 19 at Hoffenheim.
