LASG Clears-Air On Modern Colleges Increment..

…Following the outcry of parents on the increment in Lagos State Modern School Colleges.
Calm Down Nigeria Initiative (CDNI) a peace, unity and development advocates group promise to reach out to the Lagos State Government on the matter; which was done and got a feedback from a top Lagos State Government officials.
The state official explained in details and give reasons behind the said increment.
“The increment was on the boarding fees used basically for feeding, janitorial and other cost-related miscellaneous to keep the Students in the hostels per term, which has been subsidized by the Lagos State government with over 200%.”
It noted that Nutritious food is not just for physical growth but also mental alertness, and the state government is committed to the wellness and quality meals for the students.
“We don’t want our students in boarding schools to look gaunt and lack the skill of critical thinking, the concern of ensuring better welfare for our model college students, who are about one per cent of the entire basic and secondary school student population in public schools in the State, necessitated the increase in boarding fees,” Stated.
The state government stating that they ensure the model colleges students enjoy all other privileges of free education vis a vis provision of education infrastructure, free tuition, technology support (free devices) provision of adequate security in schools and payment of terminal examination fees as the state government pays WAEC fees for all public school students.
Recently, Media reports on Friday, 13th September, that the Lagos State Government increased fees in all secondary schools from N35,000 to N100,000 per term.
