Calm Down Nigeria Initiative Urges APC to Screen Defectors Carefully

Calm Down Nigeria Initiative, a civil society organization committed to the promotion of peace, unity, and national development, has reiterated its support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT). The group has been at the forefront of grassroots advocacy, promoting the President’s projects, programs, and policies across the country.

Speaking on recent political developments, the group leader, Ambassador Frank Albert Jnr Okolie, raised concerns over the wave of defections into the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Amb. Okolie says,“It is indeed a victory for the party to witness heavyweight politicians from the PDP joining the ruling APC. However, it scares me – There is a need to ensure that these defectors do not undermine the progressive agenda with conflicting leadership values and personal interests.”

He called on President Tinubu and the APC leadership to implement a robust personality and integrity screening process for all intending defectors, emphasizing that such measures are necessary to safeguard the party’s vision and the nation’s democratic progress.
