The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oyo State Command has put in place comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety and protection of lives, property, and critical infrastructure before, during, and after the Yuletide celebrations across the state.
This was disclosed following a directive by the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu, who approved the deployment of one thousand five hundred (1,500) personnel to cover strategic locations across Oyo State.
According to the State Commandant, the security arrangement is structured to address the pre-festive build-up, the peak of festivities, and the post-festive period, with emphasis on proactive policing, intelligence gathering, and rapid response.
Ahead of the festivities, the Command has intensified intelligence gathering, surveillance, and patrols around critical national assets and infrastructure, worship centres, markets, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public places. Community engagement and public sensitization activities have also been strengthened to encourage citizens to remain vigilant and security-conscious.
During the Yuletide celebrations, NSCDC operatives will be strategically positioned to provide round-the-clock security coverage. Special units, including the Armed Squad, Intelligence Department, Counter Terrorist Unit, Agro Rangers, and Disaster Management personnel, will be on standby to respond swiftly to any security threat or emergency situation. The Command will also continue to collaborate with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective coordination.
After the festivities, the Command will sustain patrols and monitoring to prevent post-celebration crimes such as burglary, vandalism, and attacks on public infrastructure. The Command remains committed to ensuring a smooth transition back to normal socio-economic activities across the state.
NSCDC, Oyo State Command, urges residents to celebrate responsibly, cooperate with security operatives, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
The Command assures the good people of Oyo State of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property and wishes everyone a peaceful and joyous Yuletide season.
