Fundamental Rights Suit: ADHURIC call for solidarity as case resumes tomorrow

..ADHURIC vs Nigeria Police Force, the fundamental human rights group calls for solidarity move among members.

The National President of Advocates in Defense of Human Rights, Justice and Culture, ADHURIC for short, and Former Lagos CDHR State Secretary, instituted a Fundamental Rights Enforcement Suit No: HCS/406/25 against the DPO, Sagamu Police Division; Commander, Sagamu Area Police Command headquarters; Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command headquarters; Inspector General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force.

The matter commenced on the 3rd September 2025 st COURT-2 of SAGAMU HIGH COURT.

At the last sitting, some of us that attended would to the bad outing of the Legal Representative of the 1st to 5th Respondents as the presiding Judge took a wipe on them for their unprofessional conduct and greed for money to do hatchet job against patriotic Nigerians. The police institutions were vehemently warned never again to threaten, harrass or attempt to arrest the Applicant pending the determination of his suit before the Honourable Court.

The Applicant is asking for the Enforcement of his Fundamental Rights and for compensation sum of #20-million for the breach and violation committed by the police officers involved.

NEXT ADJOURNMENT on this matter holds next TUESDAY 20TH JANUARY 2026 at SAGAMU HIGH COURT.

It is instructive to note, to remind and to specifically assert to the HUMAN RIGHTS COMMUNITY in Nigeria that Mr Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police of Nigeria Police Force, at a time before the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA National Conference held in ENUGU STATE declared a war against the Human Rights Activists in Nigeria including OMOYELE SOWORE, OLUSOLA ONAGUNWA, and many others for committing No Crime known to Law. The IGP gave this signal and his men lashed on it to do hatchet and malicious job of cracking down on innocent and most patriotic elements of the Nigeria Federation. The unwritten sins of the Activists is that they are advocating against corruption in the Nigeria Police Force. They advocating against brutalization of Nigerians (including legal practitioners/lawyers) and their extortions by the police institutions enacted into law to protect the people. The Activists are promoting and administration of justice which the police obstruct in their daily operations. The Activists are insisting on the that the rule of law must prevail against arbitrariness and tyranny.

The police cannot continue to be lawless and oppressive; it is an invitation for massive revolts by the people, if it not checked…

Many Nigerians have been maliciously prosecuted and remanded for no just cause and kept away for years from their siblings and family as a result of Police efforts in perverting the course of justice; thereby emboldening law breakers and criminal elements in the society leading to worsening insecurity across Nigeria.

All these evils must stop!
