Fathers Urged to Play Active Role in Children's Lives, Tackle Social Vices

On the occasion of Father’s Day, the Presidential Committee on Campaign Against Social Vices in Secondary and Tertiary Institutions extends heartfelt congratulations and warm appreciation to all fathers, guardians, and father figures across Nigeria for their sacrifices, dedication, and invaluable contributions to family and nation-building.

Fatherhood is not only about providing for the physical needs of children; it is also about guiding, mentoring, and shaping their character. In a time when our society is faced with increasing challenges such as drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime, examination malpractice, bullying, prostitution, and other social vices, fathers must become more actively involved in the lives of their children.

We urge fathers to pay closer attention to the company their children keep, their activities on social media, their academic pursuits, and their general conduct. The values children learn at home and the guidance they receive from their parents remain the strongest defense against negative influences and antisocial behavior.

The fight against social vices cannot be left to schools, government agencies, security institutions, and religious organizations alone. Fathers have a critical role to play in raising responsible, disciplined, and patriotic citizens who will contribute positively to national development.

As we celebrate Father’s Day, we call on all fathers to join hands with the Presidential Committee on Campaign Against Social Vices in Secondary and Tertiary Institutions in promoting moral values, discipline, integrity, and responsible behavior among young Nigerians.
