Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman for the South East, has commended the security agencies for the successful rescue of all the remaining kidnapped pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, and made available to Presstv News Nigeria – the APC chieftain described the rescue operation which freed the victims after over 50 days in captivity as a victorious outcome that demonstrates the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration and state governments to the safety of Nigerian citizens, particularly vulnerable schoolchildren and educators.

The abduction occurred on May 15, 2026, when armed gunmen attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, L.A. Primary School, and Community Grammar School in Esiele, Oriire LGA, taking away approximately 39 pupils and 7 teachers. One teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly killed by the abductors during the ordeal.

“The safe return of these innocent pupils and their dedicated teachers brings immense relief to their families and the entire nation. I hail the gallant efforts of our security forces, including the police, military, and intelligence teams, whose tireless work has ensured that every kidnapped individual has been rescued,” the APC National Vice Chairman stated.

“This rescue reinforces our collective resolve against insecurity. Under President Tinubu’s administration, we remain focused on strengthening our security architecture to protect lives and property across all regions,” he added.

The APC leader called on Nigerians to support government efforts in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities while urging parents and school authorities to remain vigilant.

Families of the victims have expressed gratitude, with many describing the rescue as an answered prayer after weeks of anxiety and nationwide advocacy.

Security sources confirmed that operations led to the rescue of all surviving victims, with ongoing efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.

This development comes amid broader government initiatives to enhance school safety and counter banditry in the Southwest and other parts of the country.
