Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, Lauded for Championing Peace, Development

The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, has been applauded for his intelligence, energy, humility and commitment to the preservation of Itsekiri culture and tradition as he marks five years on the throne.

The commendation came from Canaan Land Golf Course and Country Club, the first private golf course and country club in Iwere land, in a statement issued in Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The club praised the monarch for his contributions to the development of Warri Kingdom and Nigeria, particularly his efforts in attracting foreign direct investment to Delta State, promoting peaceful coexistence with neighbouring communities and advancing sustainable development initiatives.

According to the statement made available to Presstv News Nigeria, Ogiame Atuwatse III has also strengthened unity among his people through programmes aimed at modernization, cultural restoration and economic development, while providing fresh impetus to industrial growth in the kingdom.

The statement, signed by the Chairman of Akogate Group and Canaan Land Golf Course and Country Club, Hon. Felix Aganbi, described the monarch as a respected and charming traditional ruler whose peace-building and development initiatives have made a significant impact.

“Canaan Land Golf Course and Country Club named the 18th hole in honour of the respected and revered monarch of the Warri people,” the statement noted.

The club particularly commended the Olu for establishing a committee to resolve internal community disputes, initiating an annual sporting event designed to promote cooperation and mutual understanding among diverse groups, and leading grand waterway processions to Ode-Itsekiri, the historic ancestral home of the Itsekiri people.

It further highlighted the monarch’s commitment to preserving Itsekiri heritage while promoting peaceful relationships among neighbouring communities.

Describing Ogiame Atuwatse III as generous, simple and humorous, the club said his contributions had extended beyond the traditional institution to the broader development of Nigeria.

“The Board of Trustees and members of Canaan Land Golf Course and Country Club sincerely congratulate His Majesty on his fifth Coronation Anniversary and wish him good health, peace and happiness,” the statement added.

Ogiame Atuwatse III was crowned the 21st Olu of Warri on August 21, 2021, at Ode-Itsekiri (Big Warri), the ancestral home of the Itsekiri people in Delta State.

His fifth anniversary provides an opportunity for individuals, organisations and communities to celebrate a reign marked by cultural promotion, peace-building and development-oriented initiatives in Warri Kingdom.
