Presidential candidate of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has declared his readiness to risk his life to protect the votes of Nigerians in the 2027 general elections.

Presstv News Nigeria learnt that, Obi made the declaration on Thursday at a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he vowed to resist any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the election.

The former Anambra State governor said the 2027 election must reflect the genuine choice of Nigerian voters, stressing that his party would not stand by while the electoral process was compromised.

According to him, the NDC is also preparing technological alternatives to address possible network challenges that could affect the electronic transmission of election results.

Obi said the party would deploy independent mechanisms to monitor and document results from polling units, including the use of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

He expressed confidence that greater transparency and independent verification of results would make it more difficult for election figures to be manipulated.

The NDC presidential candidate urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and actively participate in the electoral process, saying the protection of their votes must be treated as a collective responsibility.

He maintained that the credibility of the 2027 election would depend largely on the ability of citizens, political parties and electoral stakeholders to ensure that every vote cast is accurately counted and reflected in the final outcome.
