Veteran Actor Olu Jacobs Dies at 84
Veteran Nigerian actor and film executive, Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84.
The celebrated actor, whose full name is Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, died after a decades long career that established him as one of Nigeria’s most respected figures in the film and theatre industry.
After his training at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, Olu Jacobs built a career in British television and international film before returning home to Nigeria, where he became a major force in the film industry.
He won major industry honours and awards for his pioneering roles and was also conferred with the national award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
Presstv News Nigeria monitored that his death was announced by his son, Olusoji Jacobs, in a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday.
Olu Jacobs passing marks the loss of one of the prominent actors whose work helped shape Nigeria’s modern film and entertainment industry.
