The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South-East, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his bold acceptance of responsibility for the challenges facing Nigeria and his determination to build on the assets while addressing the liabilities inherited from previous administrations.

Arodiogbu was reacting to President Tinubu’s remarks during a visit by the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), where the President declared that he had accepted both the assets and liabilities of his predecessor and would take responsibility for fixing the country’s challenges in the interest of the greatest common good.

According to the President:

“I’m not a man who goes looking back on everything because I’ve accepted the assets and liabilities of my predecessor. No matter what has happened in the years past, it’s now my responsibility as president to fix it and make it work for the greatest common good of our population. I take responsibility for that, and we will do it.”

Reacting to the statement, Arodiogbu said the President’s position demonstrated the maturity, courage and sense of responsibility required to lead a complex country such as Nigeria.

He said President Tinubu had deliberately chosen the path of responsibility rather than blame, focusing on solutions instead of dwelling on the difficulties inherited by his administration, Presstv News Nigeria can report.

“Leadership is not about constantly looking into the rear-view mirror. It is about confronting the realities before you, accepting responsibility and building a better future. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated that mindset,” Arodiogbu stated.

The APC South-East National Vice Chairman noted that every administration inherits both challenges and opportunities, stressing that what matters ultimately is the capacity and determination to transform inherited difficulties into opportunities for national development.

Arodiogbu further said the President’s statement was particularly significant because it reaffirmed his commitment to the Nigerian people irrespective of the circumstances surrounding the country’s economic and social challenges.

He commended President Tinubu for maintaining what he described as a forward-looking approach to governance, adding that the administration’s reforms were aimed at laying a stronger foundation for sustainable economic growth, investment and prosperity.

According to him, the President’s willingness to accept responsibility should encourage Nigerians, political leaders, organised labour, the private sector and other stakeholders to work together in the national interest.

“The President has made it clear that the responsibility is now his, and that he is determined to make Nigeria work for the greatest common good. That is a message of leadership and accountability.

“What Nigerians need at this point is not endless recrimination over the past, but constructive partnership to address our challenges and maximise the opportunities available to our nation,” he added.

Arodiogbu also described the engagement with NUPENG leadership as an important demonstration of the administration’s willingness to maintain dialogue with organised labour and critical stakeholders in the petroleum sector.

The APC chieftain reaffirmed his support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the ultimate measure of the administration would be its ability to deliver tangible improvements in the lives of Nigerians.

He concluded by calling on Nigerians, particularly stakeholders in the South-East, to support initiatives capable of promoting national unity, economic development, employment and investment.

“President Tinubu has accepted the responsibility before him. Our collective responsibility as Nigerians is to contribute positively to the task of building the Nigeria we all desire,” Arodiogbu said.
