Tinubu Promise of a Better Nigeria Rekindles Hope, Strengthens Faith in Democracy – Arodiogbu
The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South-East, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s message to the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) as a powerful call for Nigerians to remain committed to democracy and the task of nation-building.
President Tinubu, while receiving the NUPENG leadership, appealed to Nigerians to work diligently and passionately to strengthen democracy, describing democracy as the celebration of freedom and opportunity, Presstv News Nigeria can report.
The President said:
“I will just appeal to all of you to let us work diligently and passionately on this democracy. Democracy is about celebration of freedom and opportunity that must be cherished by all of us, just like a painful childbirth, but the joy is everlasting and long. And I promise you, you will enjoy a better Nigeria.”
Reacting to the statement, Arodiogbu said President Tinubu’s analogy of democracy as a painful childbirth but one that ultimately produces everlasting joy captures the sacrifices and patience required to build a stable and prosperous nation.
According to Arodiogbu, democracy should not be viewed merely as a system of government but as a platform for citizens to enjoy freedom, participate meaningfully in governance and pursue legitimate opportunities for personal and collective advancement.
“Mr. President’s message is a message of hope, responsibility and commitment. Building a better Nigeria requires sacrifice, patience and the willingness of all stakeholders to contribute to the democratic process. The President has made it clear that the destination is a better Nigeria where freedom and opportunity are cherished by all,” Arodiogbu said.
The National Vice Chairman said the President’s engagement with NUPENG was particularly significant because workers and organized labour remain critical partners in Nigeria’s economic transformation.
He commended the President for maintaining dialogue with labour and other stakeholders, stressing that constructive engagement remains essential to addressing economic challenges and building consensus around national reforms.
Arodiogbu further said that the reforms being undertaken by the Tinubu administration should be assessed from the perspective of their long-term impact on the Nigerian economy, rather than solely by the immediate difficulties associated with them.
“Every meaningful transformation comes with challenges. What matters is whether those challenges are leading us toward a stronger foundation. President Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to confront difficult economic realities while keeping his eyes on the larger objective of a better Nigeria,” he stated.
He urged Nigerians to continue to participate actively in democratic processes, support national institutions and engage government constructively while exercising their constitutional rights to demand accountability.
Arodiogbu also called on political, labour, business and civil society leaders to place national interest above narrow considerations, noting that the success of Nigeria’s democracy ultimately depends on the collective commitment of citizens and institutions.
He reaffirmed his confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the administration remains focused on creating the conditions for economic growth, investment, employment and improved opportunities for Nigerians.
“The promise of a better Nigeria is not a promise for one political party alone. It is a promise to every Nigerian. Our responsibility is to work together to make that promise a reality,” Arodiogbu added.
