Foremost Ambassador’s group to promotes peace, good governance and development in Nigeria, Calm Down Nigeria Initiative (CDNI) has advised the Federal Government to conduct population census to gauge the nation’s population for effective planning and development.
Population census gives the government an idea of the different populations in different parts of the country which will in turn aid his government in the adequate provision of social amenities like water, electricity, roads, and welfare programmes these will be beneficial to the citizens of the country.
The country needed to develop all the sectors of the economy through adequate data. These should form the basis of activities – census should be conducted every ten years, the changes between 10 years could be so drastic.
Government need to be more serious about statistics, to develop all the sectors; and you need data, information, not information but right information. ‘Right Analysis Gives Right Interpretation’.
Amb.Frank Albert Jnr Okolie, the convener of Calm Down Nigeria Initiative, urged the Federal Government to pay more attention to statistical production in the country by conducting a National Population CENSUS under his administration.
