Students Loan: CDNI Advises NELFUND, charge FG, state government on positive impact

The Calm Down Nigeria Initiative popularly known as (CDNI) has lauded the efforts of the federal government on the students loan program.

In a statement released by the group media department, CDNI appreciating the impacts of
the Students Loan program as the Bill now signed into law, it is hoped that more Nigerian youths will be empowered to further their education and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth.

This transformative ‘Student Loan Initiative’ is a program established by the federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to break financial barriers in higher education; through the provision of interest-free loans that will enabling, and empowering eligible Nigerians students to pursue their Academic aspiration.

The Student Loan Initiative is in perfect alignment with the government’s vision for education to be accessible to all Nigerians, eliminating financial constraints and open the door to academic pursuits, enabling students to shape their own future.

However, Sequel to the hike in the price of fuel, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has recently called for the review of the student loan from N20,000 to N40,000. “ NANS Senate President, Babatunde Akinteye argued that this adjustment was necessary to help students cope with the rising cost of living while ensuring that they continue to pursue their education without undue financial strain.”

CDNI urged National Association of Nigerian students (NANS) to compliment the efforts made by PBAT administration in repositioning the country educational system and his unrelenting effort in fixing the nation economy. At least, the president has shown that he’s truly committed to the future of our youth and the development of this nation.

Meanwhile, the group advised NELFUND to look into a tuition fee rebates program that will compliments the effort of the students loan initiative. Stating that if NELFUND can partner higher institutions not under the student’s loan program with tuition fee rebates program, by paying half of the tuition fee for the student as grant, leaving the beneficiary student to pay the balance half of the tution fee. The scheme will eases the burden on the rising cost of tuition fee of higher institutions in Nigeria at large.

“ We look forward to seeing the positive impact, both federal and state governments should work closely to ensure the smooth implementation of the program, and for the Students, you’re advise take full advantage of this unprecedented opportunity,” concluded.
